Join us in this exciting hobby. The FCC requires all Amateur Radio Operators to be licensed . Obtaining your license is not difficult and depending on your background and experience can be quite simple. For most people, the entry level test will require some study and many organizations / clubs offer classes to help you prepare for the test. Many find it only necessary to obtain and study books for the entry level test. In the Kansas City area, one supplier of these books is Associated Radio located in Overland Park.
You can also take practice tests on-line to test your skills before you take the FCC test. In the Johnson County area, the W5YI volunteer examining group gives amateur licensing tests once a month on the third Saturday. The testing location and time is:
